In our class, we have been learning about the different uses of technology and how we may apply them to the classroom. We have created podcasts, smart board activities, and videos to help our students learning in the classroom and while at home. We have also learned how technology is very limited to some schools or families and how one can make adjustments when this problem occurs. I have enjoyed creating my Wiki because I know it is a website that I can use someday in the classroom. This website allows me to contact students and parents as well as present different methods of learning and activities they can do for practice. It is also great to have because most families have access to the internet so it can be accessed quickly and conveniently. Smart Board: I enjoyed using the Smart Board because it can be very versatile It can be used as a simple welcome screen and have instruction for the kids, it can be used to show YouTube videos, it can be used to teach a lesson, and it can be used by the students to practice skills they have learned in the class. When teaching, I would use a Smart Board in all of the above aspects because I think it would benefit my students learning.
Podcast: I think a podcast would be beneficial for students if they needed more help while at home, they could look on the class Wiki site and find podcasts to listen to. Another use could be for centers in the classroom to help them work through an assignment or worksheet.
Videos: I thought the video was fun to make but it would take a lot time for a teacher to create for their students. I do think, however, it would be beneficial to put up some lessons on the Wiki page to help students with difficult homework. It can also be used for students to look back on if they needed reviewing.
Wiki: I think the Wiki would be beneficial for both students and parents. The parents could be updated with upcoming events and the site could be easily accessed at their convenience Parents could also find helpful sites to help their students learning while at home. Students would also benefit from this site because they could look at any upcoming homework assignments, tests, or projects coming up. Having this Wiki would be a great way to keep everyone on the same page in and outside of the classroom.
iMovie: The iMovie was able to demonstrate how to create a visual learning tool for students when teaching a lesson. Students would be able to visit the Wiki site and watch the movie for help on homework or for instructions to complete their homework.
TIP Project: The purpose of the TIP Project is to provide students with an array of activities in regards to a certain subject. This would be beneficial because students could look back on different types of technology to help them learn different math concepts. I would love to use this in my classroom because it will allow parents to see what we are doing in class and allow students to practice while at home.
